"In vitro diagnostic medical device" means a device or apparatus intended by a manufacturer to be used alone or in combination as an in vitro diagnostic medical device by a manufacturer that is intended by the manufacturer to be used for in vitro testing of human specimens, solely or primarily for the purpose of providing diagnostic, monitoring or compatibility information, including reagents, calibrators, control substances, sample containers, software and related instruments or devices or other items.
